Blessed Is the Man – Scripture Song from Psalm 1

I am always appreciative of songs that are direct quotes of Scripture.

This is one of those:

Psalm 1 has been put to music in the song “Blessed Is the Man.” It is a song based on the words from Psalm 1 – A great passage of Scripture for young people too!

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Ps. 1:1-3

Here is a video of a group of men singing this tune.

Dulcimer Music – Christian Hymns for Dulcimer

The dulcimer is an amazing instrument. It is somewhat like a cross between a violin and guitar. (referring to the mountain dulcimer here)

One has the ability to play melody with added harmony and can also play chords.

There are many individuals who use the dulcimer – whether for personal enjoyment or as part of a church service (offertory, special, etc.).

The following is a sample of music played on a mountain dulcimer.

Praise My Soul the King of Heaven – Intermediate Piano Music

I just received this in my e-mail inbox. It is a very nice arrangement to a hymn that has great quality words.

This would be a great piece for a piano student due to its use of some good technique. In addition, it will help reinforce hymn improvisation ideas for them. (I would say it is an intermediate/early advanced level.)

It also would make for a great offertory.
