I am always appreciative of songs that are direct quotes of Scripture.
This is one of those:
Psalm 1 has been put to music in the song “Blessed Is the Man.” It is a song based on the words from Psalm 1 – A great passage of Scripture for young people too!
Here is a video of a group of men singing this tune.
For those familiar with this song, the above quote has just started a melodious tune in your head, complete with deeply meaningful lyrics.
For those less familiar, this hymn reflects on the temporary nature of our earthly presence and anticipates with joy the arrival to our heavenly home. It is truly a special song!
This has been a classic song/offertory for numerous years and is loved by many.
The following provides an idea of the piano arrangement:
(Another excellent recording of this arrangement – video link)
Congregational hymn – Living Hymns (1st ed.) #691 (also excellently arranged for duet)
Great Hymns of the Faith #512
Bonus: While researching for this post, I ran across the following choral work: “We Are Saved by Grace.” I love the doctrine taught through this piece. Video Preview
I just received this in my e-mail inbox. It is a very nice arrangement to a hymn that has great quality words.
This would be a great piece for a piano student due to its use of some good technique. In addition, it will help reinforce hymn improvisation ideas for them. (I would say it is an intermediate/early advanced level.)
One day I was just needing some extra refreshment/ rejuvenation. God allowed the opportunity for an individual at that point to send me a link connecting to spiritually encouraging songs.
If you enjoy Christian music, I know you will appreciate these. The following are particularly chosen for soothing, calm music. You can add these to you YouTube channel as well or visit ConservativeChristianMusic’s YouTube channel for a playlist.
fyi – These can also be used as offertories, specials, preludes/postludes, etc.
