I am always appreciative of songs that are direct quotes of Scripture.
This is one of those:
Psalm 1 has been put to music in the song “Blessed Is the Man.” It is a song based on the words from Psalm 1 – A great passage of Scripture for young people too!
Here is a video of a group of men singing this tune.
Back in the days of teaching Junior Church, this was one of those songs that communicates such an impactful message to children and in addition also has a great tune.
The title is “Shadrach, Mesach, and Abednego” and was written by Hugh Mitchell.
First line begins
Three good men lived very long ago, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego . . .
The song later says, “to an idol they would never bow.”
What a testimony these three men had. Oh that our youth would grasp the same desire and live it in their lives!
This is also a great song for teens and those learning to play an instrument.

You’ve been chosen to lead Jr. Church in the coming weeks. One thought comes to mind: What are some songs that I could use that are appropriate for this age group?
You’ve led Jr. Church or a Sunday School class for many years. You are wishing to add some variety to your song choices.
You teach in a Christian classroom or are a homeschool family and wish to introduce songs to your children.
The following post has you covered.
For a more in-depth view of some songs, please visit the “Bible Verses Put to Music” posts for some great songs.
These songs are mostly found in 3 main sources: Hymnal (Majesty Hymnal) Sing Unto the Lord: Hymns & Choruses for Children Memory
I love this song! It conveys such powerful truths.
Children also thoroughly enjoy this song.
“Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way,
the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.'”
-John 14:6
Note: This song was passed down to me audibly by those who likewise treasured it. I am not aware of any copyrights to either the lyrics or the tune. If you own the copyright, please contact me and I will correct this page as such.
Lyrics:
‘I am the way, the truth, and the life’ – That’s what Jesus said. ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life’ – That’s what Jesus said.
Without the way, there is no going. Without the truth, there is no knowing. Without the life, there is no living.
‘I am the way, the truth and the life’ – That’s what Jesus said.
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” -Revelation 3:20
This is a fun, peppy song, expressing well the truth of the Bible verse.
It works well as a song for Jr. Church/Children’s church/Sunday school time.
