What Wondrous Love Is This – Hymn with Contemplative Meaning

This hymn is often little-known in our circles; however, I believe its message is one worthy of mention.

The following are the words to the first verse:

What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul,
what wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul,
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul!

Wow! – Impactful . . . Right?

(For music theory aficionados, this is a hymn written in the dorian mode.)

Choir or Group Special: Christ Liveth in Me

This is a perennial favorite, and apparently from Google search, it is also liked by many, many other individuals. 😉

This would work great for your choir, small group, orchestra, etc.

Bonus: for music lovers – this is a neat arrangement of it – performed by strings and vocal.

Teach Me Thy Way by Benjamin Ramsey

Several years ago, I heard this piece sung.  The words are phenomenal!

“Teach me Thy way, O Lord,
Teach me Thy way!
Thy guiding grace afford
Teach me Thy way!”

The tune is very fitting for the words.  Beautifully written.

There are several other good arrangements of this theme:

“Teach Me Your Way, Lord” by Pete Carlson. (I have currently been unable to find the sheet music available online.) It is very beautifully written.

Bible Verse Put to Music – I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life

I Am the Way the Truth and the Life John 14:6 music lyrics Christian children's song

I love this song! It conveys such powerful truths.

Children also thoroughly enjoy this song.

“Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way,

the truth, and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.'”

-John 14:6

Note: This song was passed down to me audibly by those who likewise treasured it. I am not aware of any copyrights to either the lyrics or the tune. If you own the copyright, please contact me and I will correct this page as such.

Lyrics:

‘I am the way, the truth, and the life’ –
That’s what Jesus said.
‘I am the way, the truth, and the life’ –
That’s what Jesus said.

Without the way, there is no going.
Without the truth, there is no knowing.
Without the life, there is no living.

‘I am the way, the truth and the life’ –
That’s what Jesus said.
