“I have a song
that Jesus gave me . . .”

There is a “song” in our heart! (or should be, if we’re walking in fellowship with Him)

I think of so many verses:

“He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God.” (Ps. 40:3)

Ps. 40:3

“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs . . .”

Eph. 5:19a

This is an amazing song! Many in your congregation will be familiar with it.

Where to find:

Many hymnals will contain this song –
It is often titled “In My Heart There Rings a Melody”

Rabbit trail here – I thought this quote had an interesting perspective (perhaps you can say it has application from love “suffereth long and is kind…” etc. (I Cor. 13)

“Secret of long marriage is a short memory.” Pastor Vallier

Is This You?

“I can do the “church” thing –

I need to do the “Christ” thing.”

(i.e. – love, witness, etc.)

Have you gotten yourself into a rut?

Are you just in the routine of serving God?

Its Sunday, yes, we are able to go to church. Yes, we’re excited, but perhaps we are just doing it out of routine or habit?

Have we lost our first love and our passion for God and the service we do for Him?

Have a look at the above quote again: “I can do the “church” thing – I need to do the “Christ” thing.”

(This can be particularly true of second generation Christians or if saved for a length of time.)

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men.”

Col. 3:23

“He Keeps Me Singing” – There’s Within My Heart a Melody

What a comforting thought:

“…resting ‘neath His shelt’ring wing…”

L. Bridgers

This quote had been going through my mind during a time of much difficulty.

It brings to mind the passages from the Psalms regarding being under God’s wings.

“I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler….” Ps. 91:2-4

Incredible thoughts!!

Green Hill Medley – SMS Audio Recording

I just heard a wonderful audio recording on Abiding Radio Instrumental.

The title was “Green Hill Medley” and is produced by SMS (Sacred Music Services).

One of the songs in the medley was “When I Survey.” I thought of the words:

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small:
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Isaac Watts

This is also an appropriate audio for someone going through a difficult time – it is very soothing and encouraging.

Where to find:

I’ve searched my resources. Since I heard it via streaming, I am not in possession of the “hard copy” of the original recording. If anyone is aware where this can be found, I’d be appreciative of hearing from you. (You can send me a message via the contact form.)

Stay tuned for updates.

Songs about Death and Resurrection of Christ

In preparation for the time of year when many churches have a greater focus on Christ’s death and resurrection, the following are several songs that are immense in meaning concerning the death or resurrection of Christ.

Not My Will (Majesty Hymns #408)

Deals with Christ choosing not to follow His own will, but the Father’s.

Incredible reflection on the Scripture passage as well as excellent reminder for our lives in choosing God’s will over our own desires.

(sample audio link)

My Jesus Fair

This song is an excellent piece that deals with Christ’s sacrifice for our sins.

If you ponder long on the words, you will weep.

Music setting goes well with the lyrics.

(choral octavo)

Other popular songs about the crucifixion/resurrection of Christ:

Come to the Cross

Alas and Did My Savior Bleed

Lyrics are deep in meaning.

Wounded for Me (appropriate for Communion services as well)
