Verily, Verily – Choir Special; Great for Special Meetings, Evangelistic Meetings, etc. Congregational Hymn

I would say as Christians, the following is one of our favorite Bible passages:

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

John 5:24

Also:

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, ‘He that believeth on Me hath everlasting life.'”

John 6:47

This is an excellent, energetic arrangement of this hymn. I am so appreciative of the message of this song, which the tune wonderfully conveys as well. This arrangement also features the song “Ye Must Be Born Again.”

Thanksgiving/General Choir Piece – Song of Joyful Thanks

I originally heard this piece at a choir seminar, yet since that time, its lyrical message has continued to resonate.

It reminds me of Hebrews 13:15 (a favorite Scripture passage):

“By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.”

This is part of the “Singable Solutions” series by Lorenz and is written for two-part mixed/SAB.

In addition, Lorenz has provided the part-dominate audio rehearsal tracts for your choir. This is a nice bonus!

Rock of Ages – tune by Jonathan and Ron Hamilton

Ever have a song stuck in your head?? Yep! We’ve all had that experience.

This is one of those arrangements that has a tendency to stick in your head, and it’s a good one to have stuck in your head!

I recently heard the edition from Simply Majesty sung and truly appreciated reflecting on the meaning contained in the familiar lyrics.

The above video provides a sample of the original choir and orchestra arrangement. This song was also re-written in the newly released Simple Majesty collection.

O Come, Emmanuel: Triumphant Christmas Song

Words: Charles Wesley
Tune: Hyfrydol

This is a familiar Christmas song which should be easily doable for your choir. I appreciate how the music setting matches the grandeur of the song.

The first song in this preview is the song mentioned in this post. (I do not recommend all songs included in this video.)

Great Is the Lord and Greatly to Be Praised: Bible Verses Put to Music

Psalm 48:1-2
“Great is the LORD,
and greatly to be praised in the city of our God,
in the mountain of His holiness.
Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth,
is mount Zion, on the sides of the north,
the city of the great King.”

Great is our God!

Truly, our God is greater than our earthly minds can imagine. I think of the prophet in Isaiah 6 who saw God and responded in awe of His glory.

This is a fantastic song that ascribes glory to our God. I’m appreciative that it is directly quoted from Scripture.

(This link is provided to give you an idea of the song. The tune is modified slightly, and we sing it with the words “beautiful for situation” instead of “beautiful in elevation.”)

The sheet music is transcribed from recollection from those who taught it to me many years ago. You will love this song!
